Old Leigh House visit El Galeon

Residents at Old Leigh House had a treat recently when they visited El Galeon, a replica of a 17th century Spanish trading ship which has berthed at the end of Southend’s pier. El Galeon is a fascinating, living and floating museum, comprising six decks with exhibits and displays. The residents boarded the vessel to learn how these galleons connected the world’s continents in trade and learned about what life was like as a sailor on a tall ship over 400 years ago. Some of the modern-day Spanish crew were dressed as 17th century sailors and there were photo opportunities everywhere!
