Nightingale’s new Worry Pets

On October 10th, for World Mental Health Day, residents and staff at Nightingale came together to create their own worry pets.

The idea behind worry pets is for people to take a moment out of each day, and think about passing over worries to their new friend who is designed to hold them. This is a great mindfulness technique where you can think about what is worrying you, acknowledge it, and decide whether it is a worry worth keeping or not.

The worry pets were made of salt dough, which was made by mixing flour, salt, water, and food colouring together. The residents and staff really enjoyed making, shaping, and moulding their worry pets, and everyone was very supportive of one another. It solidified the message for everyone that Nightingale is a supportive environment, and someone is always there to cheer you on!
